Hi all,

I am very excited that the gulf stream is pushing warm water up into the northeast, areas that I frequently fish.  Tuna, marlin, mahi mahi, shark and wahoo will hopefully be on the end of my line soon.  As you can see below, the warm water is coming.  Where does everyone else like to fish?  Any good fishing stories?

I had a very successful first Offshore trip this year.  I ended up landing a 251lb thresher shark aboard my friend Coreys new 33' Freeman Cat.  We set up our slick about 25 miles SW of Shinnecock Inlet, NY.  What a boat!  I've never experienced a boat that rides anywhere similar to that of a 33' Freeman.  We went through some nasty 2-3' chop going 37-38 knots, and the boat acted as though it was in flat water!

I caught my first tuna of 2013 this past weekend!  There has been a great  bluefinbite off of Long Island, NY, right around the Coimbra wreck.  I was finally able to make it out on the Freeman 33 "Fishbone II".  We had a long lumpy ride out going into a tight 5-6 swell, but the Freeman made the ride very comfortable.  We ended up 5-6 on bluefin tuna, with the biggest estimated at 40-50 lbs.  We kept a small one for the grill, and I will be feeding the whole office.

This is Corey with one of our bigger fish!

I made a recent trip to the Hudson Canyon on the Weekend of the 17th-18th of August. The first day was quite boring, without even a bite. We set up to chunk at night, and only had one 15lb Mahi Mahi, and a big blue shark. We got up on the troll at first light, and Immediately went 5-5 on Longfin Tuna up to 38lbs. Having 5 tunas on at once is an exciting moment. We got our lines back in and within 10 minutes our Rainbow Green Machine Daisy Chain in the long rigger gets absolutely crushed. We were fishing a Penn 50 wide and the fish took it all the way down to the spectra backing. We fought the fish for quite some time! We finally got it to the boat, it was a Bigeye tuna. It weighed in at 99 pounds dressed.  This isn't my first or biggest bigeye, but it was the best tasting! Here is a picture of me with the fish
