I have a 16' birds mouth mast, Sitka spruce, that I was planning to finish with Perfection Plus. But I am getting conflicting info about whether this a suitable application for PP. I see from a posting from 2011 on this forum that an Interlux rep was indicating this was a good choice for a mast, though in this case the mast had fiberglass on it, and mine does not. But an Interlux rep recently told me that PP was not a good choice for my mast, because it will tend to flex under load.

So, any further opinions/recommendations? If I don't use PP, I'll probably use a one part varnish instead, but I am interested in PP because of its longer life.

Thanks,
Craig
