The mast on my Columbia 31 is the original 1966 spar and it is painted white, though when that was done I don't know. Probably 1966!
I want to refinish the mast and would like to use Perfection 2-part but wonder if I must sand the mast back to bare aluminum to do so. You suggest a 24-hour test with Thinner No. 9, but I don't see that product in your list of thinners? Thanks, Jim Talbert Shelburne, VT

I am not familiar with thinner #9. In the Interlux line we recommend using 2316N. Soak a rag in 2316N place it on the paint. cover the areas in plastic and let it sit on the surface for 12-24 hours. If the paint is soft after the test then it will all need to be removed prior to using Perfection. |
